YOUTH CORNER:
This month’s youth is Nicholas.
My name is Nicholas. I’m twelve years old. Next year I’ll be in 7th grade.
I play the viola, and I take piano lessons. I plan to go to a music college. I like to ride my bike and jump on my trampoline. .
My favorite food is chicken enchiladas.

PAST EVENTS:
THE ELDERS/DEACONESSES RETREAT:
The Elders/Deaconess Retreat was held on April 8th. They experienced a very uplifting and great training session.
PALM SUNDAY, APRIL 17th EASTER EGG HUNT:
On Palm Sunday, April 17th, after the service, there was an Easter Egg Hunt for all the children of Shepherd in the Pines. Mark led this event and gave the children of the congregation prizes for all who gathered Easter Eggs. Fun was had by all the children who participated in this yearly event. Many thanks go to Mark for all the volunteers for their efforts for this event.
EASTER BRUNCH:
On Palm Sunday, April 17th, the church had its annual Palm Sunday Brunch after the Easter Egg Hunt. Food was provided by the Fellowship Committee, and many thanks go to Donna and her committee for all the food that was provided for the event. The food was delicious.
APRIL 23rd, EASTER EGG HUNT:
On Saturday, April 23rd, Shepherd in the Pines had a separate Easter Egg Hunt for all the children of Big Bear. Registration began at 10:30 AM with the actual Easter Egg Hunt starting at 11 AM. Prizes were given out to the children for their gathering of the Easter Eggs during this event. All the members that supervised this event were dressed in cowboy attire. There were lots of new families that came and participated in the event. Many thanks go out to Mark and all of the volunteers for their involvement.
PASSOVER MEAL:
On Thursday, April 22nd, Shepherd in the Pines had the Passover Meal at 5:30 PM. All who attended this event brought their own food. After the meal the Passover Service was continued putting emphasis being the Children of Israel exiting out of Egypt. There was also emphasis put on the meaning of the bitter herbs, Parsley, horseradish and applesauce. This was a very spirit filled time for all who attended.

OTHER SERVICES:
MAUNDY THURSDAY SERVICE:
On Thursday, April 22nd there was our annual Maundy Thursday Service. Holy Communion was celebrated during the service. After the service was over Donna led all the ladies by having them take down the Altar area, stripping the area of the Altar. Many thanks go out to all the ladies for their help.
GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE:
On Friday, April 22nd, there was our annual Good Friday Service. The readings told the story of what Jesus experienced before he was crucified from the Garden of Gethsemane to the cross.
EASTER SUNDAY SERVICES:
EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE:
There was an Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday, April 24th at 6:00 AM to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus. It was a blessing to all who attended.
REGULAR EASTER SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE:
On Sunday, April 24th at 9 AM we had our annual Easter Service. The Acolytes showed their love for their love by participating in the service. Donuts, coffee and punch were served after the service. Thank again to Donna and her committee for all their efforts on the Easter Sunday Fellowship after the service.
Easter Lillies were provided by members of the congregation to beautify the service. We lovingly thank the Acolytes for all their service to the Lord.

FUTURE EVENTS:
YEARLY YARD/BAKE SALE:
On May 27-28th, we will be having our annual Yard Sale. The actual sale will be held on Friday, May 27th from 7 AM to 5 PM, and on May 28th from 7 AM to 2 PM. We need
lots of volunteers to help set up for this worthy cause. If interested, please see Bonnie for information.
One may start gathering your knick-knacks, clothing, house-wares, clean linens, (no mattresses), any large items to bring in for the sale. Those who have small items may start bringing them in starting on May 16th. All large items may be brought in for the sale starting on Thursday, May 26th.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
MID-WEEK COMMUNION SERVICES:
There will be two mid-week Communion Services during the first two weeks of May. They are as follows during the weeks of May 1st and May 8th.
Wednesdays – High Communion Service at 9 AM on May 4th & 11th.
Thursdays – Low Communion Service at 10 AM on May 5th & 12th.
There will be one day that the mid-week Communion Service will be held in May which will be for the week of May 15th only. During the week of May 22nd there will be no a mid-week Communion Services due to the yard sale preparation and sale.
Wednesday- High Communion Service at 9 AM on May 18th.
All four services will resume back on the regular schedule as of June 1st.
QUIET TIME WITH THE LORD:
On Good Friday, April 22nd, starting at 12 Noon to 3 PM there was a special time on that day where the members could have a quiet time with their Lord, to reflect on Jesus. We thank all those who participated in this quiet time with their Lord.
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY:
Every Tuesday from 11 AM to 1 PM, there is a Women’s Bible Study group. They presently are studying the Women of the Bible. This Bible Study is held at Sharon’s house, but does rotate to other homes from time to time. Please let her know if you would like to come in order to get information about the class.
HOWARD & JUDY BRONSON’S POTLUCK:
On Sunday, May 1st, Shepherd in the Pines will be having a potluck after service for Howard and Judy as they will be leaving us to move to North Carolina. Please see Donna on what you would like to bring.
HELPING HANDS:
There are envelopes located in the pews for donations for our Helping Hands program. Please feel free to take one to donate money towards those who are in need by using the yellow envelopes in the pews. You may also donate food for our food pantry.
We are in need of more food items. Place them in the narthex. If you need food please speak to Pastor or an Elder.
AMERICAN HEROES:
If you have any names and photos of those who are serving our country in uniform (military, fire, and police). Please give the information to Bev so that she can post it on our board.
BIRTHDAY SIGN UP SHEET:
There is a sign-up sheet located in the narthex if you want your Birthday information placed in the bulletin. Please feel free to sign up so that Bev will know who would like their information mentioned in the bulletin. Thanks.
WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDY AT NOTTINGHAMS:
Our Wednesday Bible Study at Nottinghams is held at 11 AM. Everyone is invited to attend this very informative class. We are presently studying about Comparison Religions with Christianity.
